Once again, we’re going to drink, dance and celebrate Brixton’s favourite son, the magnificent David Bowie, with a special night at the Brixton Dogstar on Friday 11th Jan 2019.
On the tragic news of Bowie’s death in January 2016, we were the first venue in Britain to announce a free tribute night, and we toasted the great man’s talent with with a night of Bowie music to a jam-packed house.
We followed up with another sold out party the following year, raising £600 for local charities, and last year we hosted our biggest party to date, with hundreds joining us at the Brixton Dogstar and helping us raise over a thousand pounds for local music charities.
On Friday, January 11th we’ll be back with another huge night celebrating David Bowie, playing his hits, album tracks, obscurities and more, and mixing in tracks from some of his musical influences and the artists he inspired (e.g. Velvet Underground, Mott The Hoople, Chic, Kraftwerk etc).
There will also be videos, slideshows and photos of the great man projected on to the walls – plus Bowie bunting! – and we’ll have a facepainter on hand to apply some Bowie-style makeup.
We invite Bowie fans to dress up in the Bowie look of their choice, with free shots dished out to the best efforts!, and we’ll have a photographer on hand so we can share the photos on Brixton Buzz afterwards.
And unlike many other commercial events taking place every year, this is a fundraising event put on by fans, for fans, with ALL profits going to local charities in Bowie’s hometown.
*Please note that this event is for over 18s only, and you'll need scannable photo ID on entry.
